Almost every writer puts out a great article every once in a while; one that he or she feels was time worth spending on. However, the intended response to the article that you write isn’t met with much enthusiasm, either by the numbers or even with comments when you ‘distribute’ the piece using social media.
Here are 3 mistakes that you should keep in mind in order to get the intended response:
#1: Headline
This is probably the most important part of blog writing that some people miss out on. Think about it: if no one knows what your article is about from its headline, do you think they would bother to read it? Always remember to think of an engaging and interesting headline – one that should tell the ‘audience’ why they should care about it enough, to read it.
#2: Target Audience
Another basic mistake comes from not knowing who your target audience is. Almost everything depends on this factor, as there are topical preferences that your target audience enjoys reading. If you fail to keep this mind, don’t expect a lot of traffic to your blog.
#3: Time Submitted and Appearance
Presentation counts for just as much as ‘substance’ and placing images (at the right size) with text is vital to keeping your reader’s attention, especially since there are so many blogs out there. If you write in English, it should be obvious that your writing will be read by Americans.
So, write on topics that they are interested in and post it during the day, their time, not yours. Also, forget about posting blogs on serious topics over the weekend.
