Google is in the midst of launching their latest tool for presenting to browser users features and online services tied to their products—the Chrome Web Store. The latest online service aims to inform current Chrome and Chrome OS fans and users discover, download, install and even purchase web apps, just like what Google did with their Android Market and Apple’s App Store. Fans and users will be delighted to know that Chrome 8 is now in its final development stages, and will be the first gateway to the up and coming Chrome Web Store.
During discussions over Chrome 8’s documentation, one of Google’s programmers working on the project disclosed that the latest version of Chrome will actually be the very first to provide support for accessing the Chrome Web Store. Users will be able to find a Chrome Web Store icon on the page once a user brings up a new tab. Google is also working on finalizing Chrome Web Store icons for the Chrome browser, as well as its counterpart browser for open-source, Google Chromium. The company wasn’t able to fulfill its earlier bid to launch the Chrome Web Store in October of this year.
According to Google, the main purpose of the Chrome Web Store is to aid Chrome users locate apps on the Internet. It will provide support for search by offering app categories which are browsable, as well as displaying results lists from curated and auto-generated searches. Users will be able to give ratings and submit reviews that will help rank apps.
