How to Manage Categories in WordPress.

This tutorial assumes you have logged into the WordPress Admin Area like the one displayed below:

Click on, Manage on the main menu, it will open up a sub menu, click on the categories link, as soon as you click the categories link, you will see a category called uncategorized, this is the default category that is created when WordPress is installed like this one below.

Now let’s go and add another category, click on add new button besides the categories like this one below.

It will open up another screen like the one below,

You will have to fill in the category name, category slug, category parent, Description. For now just fill in the category name lets say NewCategory and click Add Category button at the bottom of the page. That’s it, a new category has been created and can be seen below:

You can Edit or Delete the NewCategory by clicking on the Action Panel to the right as shown below.

You can add as many categories as you want by clicking on the add new button on the top besides the categories like this below:

Lets go and delete the category we just created, click on the Delete Button and Press OK. That’s it, the NewCategory we created has been deleted. You now know how to manage categories in WordPress.
