How to install osCommerce from Fantastico

osCommerce can be easily installed via Fantastico which comes with some hosting servers like Hostgater.

Assuming you’ve already launched the Fantastico application, let’s now learn how to install osCommerce from Fantastico. On the left side menu under the heading E-Commerce, you’ll find Cubecart, osCommerce & Zen Cart, please click on osCommerce link, this will take you to the osCommerce installation screen.

osCommerce is a power used shopping cart with a big variety of modules and support of almost every payment gateway. As you scroll down the page you will find a heading which says New Installation (2.2 Release Candidate 2a + buySAFE) click on that link, it will take you to another page which says Install osCommerce (1/3) now start filling this form.

In Install in directory, enter the name of the directory you want to install in, or leave this field blank for installation in the root directory, then below that where it  says Admin access data, you can enter an admin username and password in the respective boxes, and below that where it says Base configuration, enter your shop name, owners name, email sender address, admin email address, ignore the rest below and click on Install osCommerce button, and now click the Finish installation button.

That’s it osCommerce has been installed in your account and is ready for you to start configuring it.

Now click on the http:// link above to login to your new installation. It will take you to a page which says Administrator Login, now login using the admin username and password you assigned during  installation.

You will find yourself in page 3/3 which says  Install osCommerce (3/3) go to the end of the page and click on Back to osCommerce overview button, your new installation is now listed under current installations on the script’s home page, from here you can visit your site by clicking on visit site on the right side of the stores you named during installation or even remove the script from your account by clicking Remove button, now you know how to install osCommerce  to your account from fantastico.
