Selection 11. Upload the site to the web server.

You will need to purchase web hosting to upload your site files and make your site live. I use Hostgator to host all my sites.

In order to upload the site to the web server we should understand the site to connect the web server to a remote server.

  • Press site,
  • choose manage sites,
  • press edit,
  • press next till you get the remote server setting page,
  • now click on the combo box  choose FTP and click on the FTP edit box, and type www\\xyzcompany.com,
  • click on the remote  folder edit box,
  • click on the FTP login edit box,
  • click on the FTP password edit box,
  • press test setting to see if the correct setting have been entered,
  • it will take a few seconds to connect to the remote server and the connections should be ok.
  • Press on the advance tab,
  • select the remote info from the list,
  • select the check box called passive FTP say ok,
  • press done.
  • Click on the connection icon on the right side of the screen,
  • click on the view combo box,
  • choose local view,
  • click on the put files icon,
  • since you didn’t select any files the entire site will be uploaded,
  • select OK.

The files are uploaded to the remote server.

Click again on the view combo box. Now switch back to the remote view. The files have been uploaded and the file structures remain the same. Close dreamweaver.

It’s time to test the site on line. Double click on Internet Explorer. Click on the address bar and type www\\xyzcompany.com. Press enter. You will see the site on line.
